1943 Martin 00-18
Up for auction is this beautiful, incredible sounding 1943 Martin 000-18, serial number 85450. This guitar has been played and loved hard and is dripping with tone and mojo. It looks like shes seen some rough times over her 70 year history, but she's currently structurally sound and sounds and plays like nothing you'd ever imagine. This was an excellent era for the 000-18. The necks on these used an ebony stiffner in the neck as opposed to a steel bar. This made the guitar lighter and much more responsive. This 000-18 is in fact incredible light and gives it responsiveness even a fingerstyle player would drool over. This guitar has a mahogany back and sides and what appears to be a red spruce top. We are not sure of a 100% positive ID on the type of spruce - it is most definitely a spruce grain although the color is strange and unique
