1929 Dobro Model 65

Wow. It sounds amazing and looks wild! We have something really special here. This is a model 65 Dobro from 1929! The model 65 was one of the five models from the original line the Dopyera Brothers released in 1929, under their newly formed company Dobro. This guitar is from the first year of Dobro production. The very ornamental body makes this Dobro easy to identify as a model 65. Called the “French scroll” this design was sandblasted onto the two tone top. The serial number and the ornamentation, along with the hole pattern on the coverplate date this guitar at 1929. This Dobro has a serial number of 1231 and Dobro serial numbers dating to 1929 are between 900-1400. This model was one of their higher-end productions from that era, and continued to be produced well into the thirties when Regal started making some of the Dobro instruments in Chicago. But all that history is just a side note compared to the vibe and tone of this crazy pre-depression era guitar. For 80+ years old she's looking fabulous! It sounds amazing. The all-wood body and sound-well make for a very warm and rich tone.
